Comment Policy

Premier Polygon Productions is a place for all visitors to immerse themselves in video game adaptations across mediums. Part of this experience for those who decide to do so is an exchange of thoughts, ideas and suggestions in the form of written comments below any given blog post. It is with this understanding Lord Rosmarus himself reminds everyone that they are welcome to share comments with others provided their words meet certain criteria. This criteria exists in the form of several guidelines meant to cultivate and maintain an online community of kind, respectful and enthusiastic fans of video games and video game adaptations, all of which are found below:

  1. Be Polite and Civil in All Comments — We all are human and have our own perspectives, opinions and feelings. There will inevitably be times when we disagree with one another, but that need not result in vitriol and impropriety. Rather, we can help prevent such situations by politely acknowledging applicable differences in views and explaining our ideas civilly and critically. Remember: We may critique but never criticize others.
  2. Read Each Post before Commenting — Be sure to read a post in full before sharing your thoughts with others. Submitting a comment that references the title or a minor detail mentioned in the blog post is not conducive to furthering the discussion. If you wish to comment, first read the content.
  3. Read Relevant Comments before Commenting — As with posts, it is important to read all existing comments that relate to what you want to submit. You may have an intriguing angle or idea to highlight for our community, but someone else may have already done so. If you find yourself in either this or a similar situation, think about how to modify your words so they add to the discussion rather than repeat it (e.g., build or otherwise expand upon a comment).
  4. Tag Spoilers Appropriately (Or Avoid Them) — For many of us, finding out prematurely what happens in any given story is not fun. After all, we spend time immersing ourselves in unique worlds to enjoy the experiences and reach the endings at our leisure. True, the more (inter)connected the world becomes, the harder it seems to be to avoid spoilers, but please still make an genuine effort not to handle them properly. For example, if you feel you must include something in your comment that could be considered a spoiler, mark the applicable content with a spoiler tag so readers will have to click before viewing it. If you can avoid spoilers entirely, even better. Even if the work you are referencing was released ages ago, be considerate of others and tag (or omit) whenever necessary.
  5. No Promotional or Spam Links — Living in the Information Age in part means many of us have the ability to create and share with others content from various sources, including our own work. Although it is wonderful to see such creative efforts, kindly refrain from promoting yourself or anyone else in your comment. Similarly, do not feature any questionable links in your writing.
  6. No Links to Same-Topic Posts or Articles — Similar to the point above, do not include in your comment any links to posts, articles or any other source that covers the same topic. Lord Rosmarus strives to provide to all visitors quality pieces that reflect the artistry, passion and joy associated with each adaptation covered. Linking to another source that examines the same work is both unnecessary and nonsensical.
  7. Be Specific in All Comments — Confirm your comment includes a specific, targeted point or purpose before submitting. For instance, what are you trying to convey with your words? How does your contribution add to the discussion at hand? Consider how your words could be received and arrange them aptly.
  8. Leave Constructive Comments — Just as brief, pithy comments are rarely substantive, so too are those without careful consideration. Reflect on what you want to share and why you want to share it. How can you fit your comment into the mix — and do so respectfully? Spend some time pondering the possibilities before submitting your words for others to see. Remember from Guideline 1: We may critique but never criticize others.
  9. Ensure Reasonable Comment Lengths — Check before posting to make sure your comment is a suitable length for the occasion. For example, a one-word contribution is typically not too insightful. Similarly, a novel tends not to receive as much attention as more concise comments. Try to aim for a realistic response based on the other comments as well as general atmosphere at the time.
  10. Have Fun! — Perhaps the most important of these guidelines, participating in this virtual forum is intended to elicit joy from all who engage. Following these guidelines will only enhance the experience overall!

Now that you know how to comment appropriately, you are as cool as a Koopa! So, go forth and enjoy all PPP has to offer!
